INTUMESCENT COATINGS BIRMINGHAM | NATIONWIDE
Intumescent Coatings, also known as intumescent paint, are used in buildings for Passive Fire Protection.
Intumescent Coatings come in three different types: steel, timber and plaster.
- Steel: Intumescent Coatings for steel is designed to increase the length of time that the steel structure will hold up during a fire. The paint will ‘intumesce’ which means it will swell up to 50 times the thickness of the paint.
- Timber: Intumescent Coatings for timber is designed to increase the performance of the timber substrate. It will help to decrease the spread of fire.
- Plaster: Intumescent Coatings for plaster is designed to increase the performance of a lath and plaster or plasterboard wall/ceiling. These areas should have around 20 minutes of protection if in good condition. Our Intumescent Coatings will increase this up to 60 minutes.
FireSnuff® can apply Intumescent Coatings in buildings to ensure that the building is structurally safe and able to withstand high temperatures.
